Designed for a family of six who loves to host, East Coast Traditional reimagines a compact kitchen remodel in Deephaven, MN as a calm, high-function hub for everyday life and connection. Though modest in footprint, the space delivers layered personality and timeless charm, proving a small kitchen can still make a major impact.

The design balances two distinct styles: her love of light, organic materials and East Coast character, and his preference for bolder, more dramatic moments. Soft-toned perimeter cabinetry keeps the kitchen fresh and airy, while a rich, statement island with traditional detailing and dramatic veining grounds the space and sets the palette for the broader home. Thoughtful details—zellige tile, curved cabinet feet, and repeated rounded forms—add warmth and softness throughout. Storage was maximized with smart cabinetry, including a hidden coffee station and pull-out pantry, and oversized island pendants (installed with creative problem-solving and a lot of trust) became one of the kitchen’s most striking features. Built with Builders By Design, this kitchen blends beauty and utility in equal measure, made for a busy home that loves to gather.
