Serene Primary En Suite transforms an 89 sq. ft. primary bathroom in Golden Valley, MN from cramped and dysfunctional into a calm, lodge-inspired retreat designed around the homeowners’ daily routines. Before the remodel, the space struggled with failing fixtures, no storage, and an awkward layout—including a 3′ x 3′ shower that simply didn’t meet their needs.
To improve flow and function, we reimagined the floor plan—relocating the toilet to create room for a larger vanity with an integrated linen tower and inset medicine cabinets. The expanded shower now features a glass upper third that maintains privacy while allowing natural light to move through the space. Materials and details were selected to bring warmth and quiet character: vertical tongue-and-groove paneling in a custom color pulled from the pebble tile veining, large-format herringbone tilework softened with pebble accents, and mixed metals in antique gold and ash gray for layered harmony. A mirror on the linen tower helps reflect light and visually open the room, while the client’s grandfather’s photography adds a meaningful finishing touch—echoing rust-toned accents throughout the styling. The result is personal, polished, and perfectly balanced.
