Eclectic Traditional

Eclectic Traditional is a home office design in Lake Elmo, MN, created for a busy professional who needed more than a desk and a door. Located just off the entry—and visible from the front porch—the space had to strike a careful balance: polished enough to make a statement, yet comfortable and functional for everyday work.

The original room lacked storage, seating, and personality, so we designed custom solutions for all three. Subtle cabinetry and trim details add texture and structure without repeating millwork used elsewhere in the home, while deep near-black paint (including the ceiling and trim) creates a confident backdrop for video calls and ties into the gray undertones in the entry for cohesion. Layered lighting—both natural and intentional—keeps the moody palette feeling warm rather than heavy. Soft furnishings, drapery, and practical details like hidden cord management, ample product storage, and a small dry bar for “Mad Men” moments round out a workspace that now feels collected, elevated, and completely customized.
